Type of event:

Educational
Event presence:
In person

As part of the 26th International Bat Night organized by EUROBATS, the Naturalistic Speleological Association "Le Taddarite" (Palermo) participates in the program with the event "6th Sicily Bat Night," organized in collaboration with the Ecological Research Groups Sicily, recognized by the CNSS-SSI as a Level II Course on bats.
Since 1997 Bat nights have taken place in more than 30 countries in the World with the aim of spreading knowledge about the universe of bats and educating on their conservation.
The event, with a typically popular slant while not lacking scientific rigor, will consist of a theoretical and a field part.
An overview of the ecology, the environment in which they live, their immune characteristics and the conservation of bats, with special attention to troglophilic bats, will be the subject of the theoretical part. The bioacoustic aspects covered will be preparatory to the field activity, which will be developed with a bat-walking session, that is, a short evening trek to listen to the ultrasound emissions of bats with the help of specific instruments in a nature protected area.
