The nightlife of fortress
The nightlife of fortress
The fortress in Poznan is among Polish most important bat refugees. It is a Natura 2000 side, designated to protect hibernacula of several bat species. The public is not often given a chance to meet and get to know bats living there, therefore, its comprehensiveness of the need for protection of those animals is not high. The event “The nightlife of fortress” aims at changing this situation. It is taking place during the “Poznan Fortress Days” which coincide with the “International Bat Night”. The evening event starts with a short, attractive presentation about bats. After that, there is a walk around and inside the fort rooms. During this walk participants can listen and watch bats foraging between trees, above small water ponds near fort and swarming inside rooms. To make the observation possible or easier we use ultrasound detectors, thermal imaging camera and red lights.
