BAT NIGHT 2017 Bulgaria
On August 26th Science for Nature Foundation (SNF) and Institute of Biodiversity and Ecosystem Research – Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (IBER-BAS) will celebrate the BAT NIGHT 2017 in Sofia with an educational event – lectures and field expedition.
The first part starts at 12:00 in the conference room of IBER (Sofia, Yuri Gagarin Str. 2) where two presentations will be held. The first talk on the topic "Myotis mystacinus morpho group phylogeny on the Balkan Peninsula" will be given by Heliana Dundarova. You will hear about the latest studies on the origin and evolution of the Whiskered Bats. The second talk on the topic "Bat rehabilitation – stories from the kitchen" will be given by Vyara Krushkova from the Wild Animals Foundation, where you will find out about the efforts and the enthusiasm of a group of people to save the bats living around us. The practical part of the event will take place outside the city at "Rejishka" cave (village of Lakatnik), where our colleagues Stoyan Goranov and Dimitar Ragyov will conduct a training course "Bat observation and trapping for research and conservation purposes". The training begins at 20:00 and will last until midnight.
