International Bat Night
International Bat Night
Museum of Natural History invites everybody to discover the world of bats Museum of Natural History celebrates International Bat Night on 24th of August. Batwalks will be held on 24th-27th of August. International Bat Night is convened by EUROBATS and takes place in more than 30 countries every year. „There are 12 bat species in Estonia. Bats live everywhere around us, even in the very centre of Tallinn city. But we know very little about them. Contrary to many legends and beliefs there is no need to be scared of bats – they are peaceful and interesting animals, whom we have to get to know better, “told the museum pedagogical specialist Tiiu Liimets. On the Bat Night everybody has an opportunity to listen to a lecture about bats (also in English). During the evening there is a chance to participate in different activities in the museum classroom – from studying a bat skeleton to drawing and colouring bats and crafting your very own bat brooch from felt. In addition to the activities one can see the museum and info sheets about bats and their lifestyle in Estonia. There is plenty to do for the whole family. Bat Night is organised in collaboration with NGO Suurkõrv (Triinu Tõrv)
