Discovering the bats: refuge boxes and bat conservation

Type of event:
Bat Walks & Observation
Event presence:
In person

At the Canyadell estate we will carry out an activity to discover the fascinating world of bats. These small mammals play a very important role in ecosystems, as they help to naturally control insect populations and are indicators of environmental health. However, many species are currently threatened by habitat loss and other human impacts.

During the day we will learn about the “Sender dels Ratapatxets” project, a dissemination and conservation initiative promoted jointly with the Granollers Museum and the Altafulla City Council, which promotes knowledge and protection of bats through interpretive itineraries.

We will also visit the refuge boxes installed on the estate to learn how bats are studied and protected, and we will observe possible signs of their presence. In addition, we will learn how shelter boxes should be so that they are favorable for bats and can become a safe space in which to take refuge.
